Estate Planning Documents
Let For the People prepare your Last Will and Testament, Power of Attorney or Health Care Proxy. Making sure all of your important documents are prepared and up to date is an important part of planning your estate. For the People can prepare these simple, yet important documents for a fraction of the cost. And our services include providing the appropriate witnessing and/or Notarization of your documents, as well.
For the People can prepare:
Last Will and Testament: In this document you state how you want your assets to be distributed after your death. You will also nominate someone to act as an Executor for your estate; that is, someone who will carry out your wishes for you after your death and probate your estate. If you have minor children, it is always a good idea to nominate Custodians and Guardians in your Last Will and Testament, as well. Do NOT confuse your Last Will and Testament with a "Living Will".
Power of Attorney: We prepare the standard New York State Statutory Short Form Power of Attorney. A Power of Attorney allows you to nominate someone to act on your behalf for financial matters ONLY.
Health Care Proxy: This document is intended for you to nominate someone to act on your behalf for health care decisions ONLY. We prepare a package of documents including: the standard NY State Health Care Proxy form, a New York State Living Will and a HIPPA Release form.
Living Will: We prepare Living Wills as part of our Health Care Proxy package. Your Living Will will let others know what specific medical procedures you do or do not want administered if you are incapacitated, as well as any other specific instructions regarding your health care.
Unfortunately, For the People does not prepare the paperwork for trusts in New York State. If you are looking for either a revocable or irrevocable trust, our suggestion is to contact an experienced Estates and Trusts Attorney in your area.
Rush service/Same Day Service is available for Wills, Powers of Attorney and Health Care Proxies at a modest additional charge. Please contact us to find out more information if you need to have one of these documents prepared sooner than our standard 3-4 business day preparation time.
